How I do mindfulness
It’s taken me a few years but I’ve realised that I can’t do meditation (I just start thinking about other things!). I even tried the Calm app, and Headspace.
My mum taught me to knit from a young age, so I decided to start again as a way of distracting myself from my pain, and my work stress. I realised by accident that it’s actually a mindful hobby, forcing me to think about it as I go along.
I have also started learning to crochet (I'm still learning!) and I’ve knitted a few gifts. I feel like I’ve really got into crafting. These activities have really helped me as they distract me from my grief.
I made advent calendar for my friend’s daughter last year, and filled it with gifts. I also made a dementia activity cushion for my mum.
Baking is another favourite ‘mindful’ activity as I need to focus while I’m doing it!
