What is Endometriosis?

This is a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus. For example on the ovaries or fallopian tubes.

What are the symptoms of Endometriosis?
  • Painful, heavy menstrual periods e.g. severe abdominal pain, bladder pain, back pain.

  • Period pain that stops you doing daily activities.

  • Pain during or after sex.

  • Pain when urinating or having a bowel movement.

  • Constipation.

  • Infertility.

What should I do if I'm experiencing symptoms?
  • Speak to your GP as soon as possible if you have symptoms as a diagnosis can take a while.​

  • Use a period/symptom diary to log your symptoms (this will help at your GP appointment.
