Welcome to the first day of advent!
The plan is that I will post something positive each day. This could be anything from tips to sharing my own experiences.
This first post is about gift ideas. I'm sure you're already thinking about your Christmas shopping list but what do you buy your lovely peeps who have chronic illnesses? Do not despair! I've put together a list of gifts that I think (hope) they will love.
Hot water bottle - May I suggest the YUYU bottle? https://yuyubottle.com
Also, you can use voucher code YU10 to get 10% any product from the YUYU website.
Pyjamas, fluffy socks, a cosy blanket - to help your friend feel warm and cosy.
Dressing gown - for similar reasons, especially if they’re going in to hospital.
Period pants – try Cheeky Wipes for a good selection of pants https://www.cheekywipes.com
Colourful scarf
Heated throw - I’ve found my heated throw invaluable, especially when I’m at a desk all day. I also use it when I’m watching TV. I have one from Dreams but there are lots of others out there e.g. try Argos.
Bedside caddy - to store emergency items e.g. medications, magazines, books. I found a really good selection on Amazon.
Squishmallow - for when they need to squeeze something!
Eye mask - or even better, a lavender eye mask!
A beautiful notebook or journal and pens - I have a little journal from Roger la Borde and it’s so pretty!
Mindful colouring book and crayons - to take their mind off the pain. There are lots of options for mindful colouring books on Amazon.
Colourful drinks bottle - You could get one for keeping drinks warm. SHO is the only brand I’ve used that really keeps your drinks hot for several hours!
Power bank - so that they don’t need to keep bending down to charge their phone.
Bag for carrying around essentials.
Seat cushion (donut cushion) - I still have my donut cushion. It really helped to take the pressure off my rectal pain.
Motivational mug, and tea/coffee/hot chocolate - try Etsy, Dunelm or Oliver Bonas. I love this one from Tache crafts. Eleanor Bowmer also has some beautiful gifts.
Noise cancelling headphones.
SAD lamp - for light therapy. I have one in every room!
Homemade gift ideas:
Wellness box/bag filled with little treats such as a face mask, lip balm, hand cream, foot mask, scented candle, their favourite tea.
You could fill a jar with positive notes and funny jokes.
Make a voucher book. For example: 1 x homemade meal, 1 x takeaway, 1 x help with garden/house etc, 1 x pet sitting, 1 x cinema date.
