Definition c/o Smart Endometriosis @smart.endo
I see you. Person staring at my belly and wondering if I'm pregnant (I am not).
Unfortunately, one of the symptoms of endometriosis is a bloated stomach or "endo belly" caused by inflammation. People can assume your pregnant. I've experienced this for so long. Exercising does not help. I can’t remember the last time I wore jeans as I find them too uncomfortable or they just don't fit me properly. I do have some very comfy dungarees though!
"Endo belly" can appear with other symptoms such as:
Constipation
Trapped wind
Nausea
Diarrhoea
What can I do to relieve my symptoms?
If it's very severe (causing you a lot of discomfort), definitely speak to your GP.
Keep a tracker/journal to document your symptoms. This will also help when/if you need to speak to your GP.
Peppermint tea can help with the trapped wind.
Try to eat as much fruit and veg as you can to relive constipation. Prunes can help!
Drinking plenty of water will also help.
Experiment with cutting down on foods that could cause inflammation, such as alcohol, caffeine, dairy, gluten, processed foods and red meat.
