When I wrote this post, we were taking down our Christmas tree and saying goodbye to the lovely decorations and lights again. January to me always feels like all that joy from Christmas has quickly evaporated to be replaced with grey, (freezing) cold days!
This month, I’m determined to find ways to feel happier and to also try and keep it going (until March at least!). I don't make new years resolutions because I know I won't be able to stick to them. As you will know from my blog, there is a lot going on at the moment with my pain issues and my mum’s dementia. I want to try to fit in some happiness though.
So long January blues!
These are some of the ideas I have:
A suitable exercise routine involving at least 15 minutes each morning.
I want to try and get up earlier (before my dog wakes me) so hopefully doing a short exercise routine first thing will help! I do use a Lumie Sunrise alarm but it's still so tempting to stay in bed and sleep through.
Try out more recipes.
Creative activities - learn to crochet, make some decorations that I’ve seen on YouTube.
Get some houseplants and try and keep them alive! 2 out of the 3 plants that we bought have crossed to the other side, and so we’re due to replace them.
Stop punishing myself, especially if I don't achieve everything above.
I have also taken some inspiration from Michael Mosely's Just One Thing podcast. There are some brilliant ideas on improving your mood.
I’ll let you know how I get on! If you have any ideas to beat the January blues, please share them!
