Endometriosis, Fibroids, Adenomyosis - What are they??

Laura Chin-See

I agree, they sound confusing! Following my first consultant appointment, I had to do some more research as I had never heard of these conditions.

They are very similar uterine conditions, and with some help from the NHS website, I have collated their symptoms below:

Endometriosis

Fibroids

Adenomyosis

Endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the womb starts to grow in other places, such as the ovaries and fallopian tubes.

Fibroids are non-cancerous growths that develop in or around the womb (uterus).

Adenomyosis is a condition where the tissue that normally lines the womb starts to grow within the muscular wall of the womb.
